BMW M5 Test Drive News 2014 - The current BMW M5 is a very accomplished super sedan and a deserving addition to the history of the M5 pedigree. By super sedan, this new M5 is magnificently balanced and flexible. The brakes have their work cut out; however, the chassis works both ends equally. You can throw the M5 into corners with confidence and have it appear at the far side knowing how much you can push the accelerator before the rear end starts to send itself sideways. Yet a hint of warning is to not turn off the traction control unless you have a lot of space to play with.

Besides the acceleration it offers and the speed it carries, the current BMW M5 is not a raw beast of a car even with all the controls switched up to eleven. The standard 5-Series is a large, hefty, insulating machine, and the BMW M5 is the same. It can not quite lose that pamper feeling and thus this is an M5 that is targeted primarily at businessmen who like driving versus drivers who do the business.
You might think the BMW M Division has issued the traditional naturally aspirated V-10 of the old for a twin-turbo V8, but this is not an ordinary forced induction power plant. The BMW M5 has 552 horsepower and 501 lb-ft of torque, and it is the most powerful M car ever. At 0-62 mph in 4.4 seconds, a 0-124 mph in 13.4 seconds, and a top speed of 190 mph, the M5 is nothing to mock at.
The BMW M5 is the first car in a long time where you actually have to select your shoes wisely, so you are able to better feel the pedals. Once you do, the car is transformed. Rather than being awkward and clumsy with a bipolar drive train, it becomes the superbly rapid, witty, and willing sports sedan an M5 should always be. The best point to make is that you, the driver, feel absolutely at the very center of all the action, especially more so than in the twin clutch version.
Currently the closest rival to the BMW M5 is the Mercedes-Benz E-63 AMG, but rumor has it that Lexus is supposed to release the new GS-F as a contender.
